Notes
The letter begins with the basmalah and then with “The Prophet, peace be upon him, said,” and it does not have a title or the name of its compiler. The number of its hadiths is sixty-three. All or most of the message is fabricated narrations, such as those narrated by storytellers who are ignorant of its condition or who fabricate it in order to gain profit from it. The text is followed, and in the margin there is a comment.
Sample Text
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “There are four essences in the children of Adam that are removed by four things. As for the essences, they are reason, religion, modesty, and good deeds, and anger removes good deeds.” The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “The scholars among my nation are like salt in food, just as food is not delicious except with salt, and the nation is not sound except with scholars.” The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “The signs of the people of Paradise are seven: that his face be beautiful.”
