Praise be to God who sent down the Criterion upon His servant so that he might be a warner to the worlds. So, with the shortest of its surahs, he challenged the eloquent speakers of the great Arabs, but he did not find any power in it. He made those of the eloquent people of Adnan and the eloquent people of Qahtan sway those who stood up to oppose him to such an extent that they thought they had been enchanted with enchantment. Then he made clear to the people what was sent down to them according to what was revealed to them of their interests, so that they might contemplate His verses and let those of understanding remember with a reminder.
