Notes Under the title is a commentary on the book by Sayyid Abi al-Thana Mahmoud Shihab al-Din al-Alusi (d. 1270 AH) in which it is said: “He is one of the best collected and most complete footnotes in writing, as this appears to the fair observer, and he is one of the poor people of my time, and I am the poor one, glory be to Him. Mahmoud al-Alusi pardoned him in the year 1236. This is followed by a translation by the Sialkutian author in al-Alusi’s handwriting as well, and another commentary by him in the form of advice to his son, In his own handwriting, he mentioned that he read the lengthy book borrowed from Khalil Effendi al-Rahbi, the former mufti of Baghdad, and then he copied Abd al-Hakim’s footnotes on paper he bought with money he earned from selling some of his clothes in the winter (this incident was referred to by the author of the book Poets in Baghdad and its book during the days of the ministry of the late Dawud Pasha (Baghdad 1936), pp. 36-37.
