Notes It appears, according to the statement revealing suspicions, that it is only a piece or part of the aforementioned book, and the author tells us in his preface that he was “asked to collect what occurred to him in the words of his sheikh, the Sheikh of Islam, the opener of the saints’ knowledge of guidance, Muhyid al-Din Abi Muhammad Abd al-Qadir Ibn Abi Salih al-Jili, may God sanctify his soul.” So he responded to the questioner, seeking benefit and reward, and summarized it in an established book with chain of transmission, relying on authenticity, and separated it by mentioning notable figures. The sheikhs, some of whose actions and words in this regard are close to his high degree, and I supported him with what was conveyed to us from some of the sheikhs’ news, that he would say that, declaring his abundant thanks, and I followed that with deceptions of words he said revealing the face of a great man who was not attained by gains, nor was he blessed with desires, but talents prepared his means, and happiness opened his doors.” In this part, the author deals with the sheikhs’ narrations about Sheikh Abdul Qadir, and mentions words he told about himself, and the following comes. This includes supernatural stories, and stories about the prophets, then he mentions words about the saints, and words about the etiquette of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and what he said about the pure Sharia, and about Sufism and Sufis, and piety, and then about honesty and knowledge, and other things.
