Notes
The manuscript was divided into two parts: the first on interpreting letters in which teachers make mistakes, and the second on correcting names and nicknames. It contains a commentary, at the beginning and end of which there are various benefits. The titles are marked in bold font.
Its title was stated in its chest: “The Book of Interpretation of Problematic Words in Al-Muhadhdhab,” and this is its subject, but the name of its author was not mentioned, except that it is the one mentioned by Haji Khalifa in Al-Kashf (3/447) when introducing Al-Muhadhdhab by Abu Ishaq Al-Shirazi, for he said: “And what is in it of the problems of words was explained by the sheikh, the imam, the jurist, Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ali bin Abi Ali Al-Shafi’i, and he called it: The Strange Picking of the Words.” Evidence of the polite, the beginning of which is: “Praise be to God for what He has given.” The beginning of this explanation is: “Praise be to God for what He has given.” The full name of this mentioned person is: Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ali bin Al-Hassan bin Ali bin Abi Ali Al-Qal’i. He has a translation in the book “Conduct in the Classes of Scholars and Kings” by Bahaa Al-Din Muhammad bin Yusuf bin Yaqoub Al-Jindi Al-Kindi, who died in the year 732 AH, edited by Muhammad bin Ali bin Al-Hussein Al-Akwa’ Al-Hawali, published by Al-Irshad Library, 1995 AD, Sana’a (1/454), and he mentioned among his works that it is the rules of the polite, including His words are strange... The treasure of preservation is in the strange words, i.e. the words of the polite one, and in the dictionary of authors it is permissible (10/317) that he died in the year 630 AH. It was mentioned in the book Al-Alam by Al-Zirakli (5/60) in the translation of Omar bin Muhammad bin Ahmed bin Ikrimah Al-Bizri (Omar Al-Bizri) that he had a book in the Hagia Sophia Library in Istanbul (No. 458) as part of a collection in which he explained the problems of Al-Muhadhdhab by Al-Shirazi.
Sample Text
Praise be to God for the gifts He bestowed, the repulsion of affliction, and His prayers... In this brief book, I have collected the linguistic terms and positive nouns found in the book Al-Muhadhdhab, most of which may be mispronounced, as most of the learners, and even many teachers, are ignorant of their interpretation, and I made it into two sections: the first section is on the linguistic terms, and it is arranged in the order of the book.
