Notes
Nothing was found in Ibn al-Wardi’s book “Kharida al-Ajaib wa Farida al-Gharaib” that matches the text of this letter. Perhaps it is the one that Wolff printed in Leipzig in 1872 AD, according to what was stated in the book: “Contentment to what is printed,” p. 172. The text is followed.
Sample Text
This is a book about the circumstances of resurrection. In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. It was narrated on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him, who prayed the morning prayer. He leaned his back against the mihrab and said: O people, how can you enjoy the blessings of this world, when the owner of the images has set his mouth and nostrils on him, and his gaze has set his mouth waiting for the command of his Lord when he is commanded to blow the trumpets? They said: O Messenger of God, we will ransom you with our fathers and mothers. As for the images, it is a horn of light with its head at the top.
