Now to what follows: On the seventh of Dhu al-Hijjah al-Haram in the year 1079, I agreed to write a letter to some of the ninth-century Hanafi scholars, among the notables of the state of Mirza Agh Ibn Shah Rukh al-Korkani, the content of which is that reciting dhikr aloud is a forbidden innovation, and he affirmed that and stated it without being restricted by a doctrine.
