The first part [until the seventh] of the history written by Muhammad bin Ismail al-Bukhari, the narration of Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin Ahmed bin Abdul Salam al-Khafaf al-Naysaburi on his authority, from what Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin Jaafar bin Muhammad bin al-Ward bin Zangawayh told us about him. It is the small history book published by Muhammad Muhyi al-Din al-Jaafari al-Zayni in the year 1325, and it is related in the order and phrases, increments and decreases, as of folio 277 or its equivalent in the printed edition of 234. The letter is a noble dictionary that was based on the original of Ibn al-Ward, and the copy was heard in Ibn al-Ward in the year 361 (folio 85).
