Notes
It is a book about the virtues of Ahmed bin Ali bin Yahya Al-Rifai Al-Husseini, the founder of the Rifa’i order. Professor Korkis Awad described this copy in the catalog of the Jacob Sarkis Treasury, p. 92, when it was in the library of the University of Baghdad. He referred to the name of the author mentioned above and relied on what was mentioned in the preamble to the manuscript without verifying the period in which the author lived or confirming the attribution of this manuscript to the aforementioned author. According to our investigation, the author of the book is a person other than Al-Wasiti, as the author mentioned the deaths of some notable figures limited to the year 604 AH/1209 AD and the year 686 AH/1277 AD. As Al-Mustansir mentioned, may God have mercy on him, it is not possible for the author of this book to be Al-Wasiti who died in the year 589 AH/1184 AD. It was mentioned in Brockelmann under the title (Guiding the Travelers in the Virtues of Sheikh Ahmed Al-Rifai).
