Al-Hammam, the scholar, the best of the latecomers, the tongue of the speakers, the star of the world and the religion, may God be pleased with him, said: Glory be to You, O God, O Necessary Existent, and O Overflowing with goodness and generosity, bestow upon us the lights of Your mercy, and facilitate for us the attainment of the perfection of Your knowledge... So know, my brothers, that a group of my companions... when they had finished researching the treatise called The Eye in the Science of Logic, which we had composed in ancient times, asked me to add to it a treatise on the other two sciences, I mean the divine and the natural... And I began to write a treatise. It includes the general rules of the two sciences mentioned, with references to details and warnings about facts that are not mentioned in the books compiled in this art, arranged into two sections.
