Notes
The author is one of the notables of a well-known family. He took knowledge from some of the notables of his family in Baghdad, traveled to Istanbul and Egypt, and received the rank of the Two Holy Mosques from the Sultan. He assumed the position of the Basra District Attorney in the years 1284 AH to 1286 AH, in which he wrote this book. Yassin Bash Aayan translated his introduction and commented on his book and wrote down his criticisms of it, including his failure to mention some of the northern sites and rivers in the Qurna district, and in the south, such as the Qurna River. Mahijran, which is one of the most famous rivers of ancient Basra, also neglected some of the biographies of prominent figures of Basra, such as Sheikh Ahmed Nour and others. The author organized this book into an introduction, three sections, and a conclusion. The copyist wrote an appendix to the original, beginning with pages 260 to 273. When he reached this point, his eyesight became weak, which led to him refraining from writing. However, the materials he prepared are in a special envelope that needs to be revised and written down. The thickness of the manuscript is 3.5 cm.
