God Almighty’s saying: “Be apes, despicable” (Al-Baqarah: 65) is the saying of the majority, and it is permissible for God to preserve for them the understanding of humanity after they became apes. It was narrated in some of their stories that one of them used to have a person from his relatives who had forbidden them come to him and say to him: Did I not forbid you? He said with his head, “Yes,” and tears ran down his cheeks, and he was not exposed to the monstrosity of some of them as pigs. It is narrated on the authority of Qatada that the young became monkeys and the old became pigs
