It was narrated on the authority of Luqman that he said: When God created Adam, peace be upon him, and breathed into him his spirit, and taught him all the names, he left in God’s hands a red ruby, but Adam did not teach it its name. He said: Then Adam looked at her and said: O Lord, what is this? He did not know its name. Then God Almighty said: He asked me about a great matter hidden from His unseen. So Adam, peace be upon him, was terrified when he asked his Lord about something that he did not know.
