As for praising God for His abundant blessings... the one who called me to shorten the book Al-Artematiqi... and resume its composition, change its order and divide it (what) in the nature of the eminent Sheikh, Sayyid Abi Al-Hasan Ahmad bin Muhammad Al-Suhayli * - may God prolong his life - is of strong insight in depicting the mathematical sciences, and an intense love for everything that he explores of the results of thought and vision, then what he had previously mentioned above in summarizing the book of Euclid on the Principles of Geometry.
