The author says in his preface that after he wrote his book “The Arabized Translator,” in which he deals with all the past states from the beginning of creation to the end of the state of the Saadian nobility, he set out to write down the news of the state of the Alawite nobility, the kings of Morocco after the Saadians, and in that he collected all the resources and sources he could, including what he received in that from his sheikhs, and what followed him from his predecessors in the state of Sultan Moulay Ismail, and after him from the children of similar kings, and what he witnessed. He was attended in the state of Sultan Sidi Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ismail, and after him by his children, servants and soldiers, and in the state of the Commander of the Faithful, Mawla Suleiman, until the time of history, which is 1220 AH. The author made his book an introduction that deals with talking about their noble lineage, and thirteen chapters, each of which deals with one of their kings. After talking about their lineage, he begins by talking about the beginning of their state at the hands of Moulay Al-Sharif, then mentions their kings in succession, starting with the state of Moulay Muhammad Al-Sharif, then the state of Al-Rashid bin Al-Sharif, then the state of the Grand Sultan Moulay Ismail, then the state of Ahmed bin Ismail, then the state of Abd Al-Malik Ibn Ismail, then the state of Moulay Abdullah bin Ismail, then the second state of Ahmed, then the second state of Moulay Abdullah, then the state of Sidi Muhammad. Bin Ismail, then the third state of Abdullah, then the state of Sultan Yazid bin Abdullah, then the state of Sultan Suleiman bin Muhammad bin Abdullah, then Ibrahim bin Suleiman, and the book ends with a talk about the Islamic sects, then with another talk about the seven geographical regions.
