Know that the rational ruling is limited to three categories: obligation, impossibility, and permissibility. Obligatory is what is not conceivable in the mind as nonexistent, impossible is what is not conceivable in the mind as existing, and permissible is what is valid in the mind as to its existence or nonexistence. Every person legally accountable must know what is obligatory for our Lord Almighty, what is permissible and what is impossible, and likewise he must know.
