The book of Hilyat Al-Abdal and the knowledge and circumstances that appear about them. Praise be to God for what he inspired... And then I asked God Almighty on the night of Monday, the twelfth of Jumada al-Awwal, in the year five hundred and nine, at the home of the Mayyah family in Taif, during our visit to Abdullah bin Abbas, the cousin of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. The reason for my request for prayer was to ask my companions Abu Muhammad Abdullah bin Badr bin Abdullah al-Habashi Atiq Abi al-Ghanaim bin Abi al-Futuh al-Harrani and Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Khaled al-Sayrafi al-Tilmisani... that I should restrict them... what... They benefit from it... and I recorded for them in this booklet, which I labeled “Hilyat al-Abdal and what appears from them of knowledge and circumstances.”
