Notes
The writing is a historical presentation divided into three chapters. The first chapter is from the beginning of creation to the appearance of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. The second is from the birth of the Prophet to his death. The third includes the history of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, then the Umayyads and the Abbasids until the caliphate of Al-Mustakfi. This is followed by a summary of the conquest of Egypt during the caliphate of Omar, then the conquest of Andalusia, and a summary of its history, then a quick presentation of the history of the Almohad state until Caliph Yaqub Al-Mansur, and it concludes by mentioning the signs of the Hour and the extinction of the world. The book is sometimes attributed to Shihab al-Din Abu al-Abbas al-Maqri, the author of Nafh al-Tayyib, and this is what is stated in the title of the Egyptian Book House copy No. 1599, along with the name of Hajj al-Shatibi, and what is stated on the cover page of the Royal Copenhagen Edition No. CXXVI, and what is taken by Dr. Karl Brockelmann, author of The History of Arabic Literature S. II. 383 However, we have great doubt about this attribution, because the subject of the book is far from Al-Maqri’s field, and far from the spirit of his historical and literary style. The book was translated into French with the care of the orientalist Silvestre de Sacy. de sacy and published in Paris.
