Notes
This third part deals with the news of the last Almoravid state and its end at the hands of Caliph Abd al-Mu’min ibn Ali, Abd al-Mu’min’s local conquests, then his seizure of Marrakesh, the Almohads’ crossing after that into Andalusia, and their successive seizure of its bases, Abd al-Mu’min’s march on Africa and the conquest of its cities, then his death and the succession of his son Abu Ya’qub Yusuf, his conquests in Africa, then his crossing to Andalusia, and his clash with the Christians in Shantin, and his wound in the battle and then his death, and his son Yaqoub Al-Mansur took over the caliphate, and his fight in the Great Battle of Ark with the Christians and his brilliant victory in it, then the succession of his son Al-Nasir, and his heavy defeat before the Christians in the Battle of Al-Aqab, and after that the Almohad caliphs are traced until the Banu Marin fought the Almohad state and defeated it successively until its end at the hands of its last caliphs, Idris Al-Wathiq Billah, nicknamed Abu Dabbus. In the year 668 AH. Ibn Adhari sometimes classifies his narratives in the manner of chapters, and other times in the manner of annual annals, and he mostly adheres to neutrality in citing incidents and presenting people. It is worth noting that several years ago, a huge manuscript volume of “Al-Bayan Al-Maghrib” was found in the Nasiriyah treasury in Thamgrout, in which the discussion begins, according to the third volume, about the events of the year 533 AH. It has been shown through study and comparison that it contains many important additions to the other manuscript copies of the third part, but at the end it is slightly less than that, as it ends with the events of the year 665 AH, while the other manuscripts end with the death of the last caliphs of the Almohad state in the year 668 AH. This book was mentioned in: Brockelmann: S.I. 577. G.I. 537 and General Rabat 200. 366 and P. Boigues 414.
