Notes The book opens with a preface in which the author mentions the minister of the era, Ubay Ali bin Said al-Jabi, then says that this summary contains two chapters, the first in mentioning the foundations of Fez from the Hassanite Idrisids, and the praise that came from it and its inhabitants from the pathological scholars, and the second in mentioning those who managed it with walls and added to it, and mentioned its ancient collectors, and the houses and baths it ended up with. The author begins by talking about the region in which Fez is located, the reason for the arrival of Imam Idris al-Hasani to Morocco, mentioning its history, the Berbers’ pledge of allegiance to him, then the succession of his son Idris to him, and his establishing Fez in a place of his choice where water and urban advantages were available, and the reason for calling it Fez, then the establishment of the Andalusian and Qarawiyyin enemies, then he mentions its advantages and blessings, and in the second chapter he talks about the walls of Fez, its doors, quarters, houses, and baths. He pays special attention to talking about the establishment of the Al-Qarawiyyin and Al-Andalus Mosques, and the increases that occurred there until his time. He enumerates the preachers of the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque until the end of the eighth century AH, and describes to us its pulpits, its various parts, and its Qur’an treasury. In general, the author presents to us a comprehensive urban and historical picture of Fez and its facilities. This book was carefully published by Professor Alfred A. Bel, an introduction was made to it in French, and it was printed in Algeria in the year 1923 AD. It was then published after that with the care of Professor Abdul Wahab bin Mansour, and it was issued by the Royal Press in the year 1387 AH/1967 AD.
