The narration of Sheikh Abdul Qadir bin Musa bin Abdullah Abu Muhammad Muhyiddin Al-Jilani or Al-Jili (d. 561 AH) on the authority of Al-Mubarak bin Ahmed bin Al-Qasim bin Ahmed Abu Al-Hassan Al-Tuyuri Al-Sayrafi (d. 500 AH) on the authority of Ibrahim bin Omar bin Ahmed bin Ibrahim bin Ismail bin Mahran Abu Ishaq Al-Barmaki (d. 445 AH) on the authority of Abdul Aziz bin Jaafar bin Ahmed bin Yazid bin Marouf Al-Baghawi Abu Bakr Ghulam Al-Khallal (d. 363 AH) About the author. This Ibn al-Barmaki was born in the year 361 AH (Al-Muntazim by Ibn al-Jawzi), so he would have been two years old on the day Abu Bakr died. Next, in the same handwriting, is a paper containing the introduction to the book (Reading at the Graves) narrated by Sheikh Imam Sharaf al-Din Abi Abd al-Rahman Issa on the authority of his father, Muhyiddin Abd al-Qadir bin Abi Salih al-Jilani, with his chain of transmission traceable back to Abu Bakr Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Harun al-Khallal. The copy was not illustrated with the rest of this book. Bab Al-Azj: He wants the school of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Kilani, one of the most famous schools in Baghdad in the Abbasid era. Sample Text The beginning of it is after the basmala. He said, “My father, the only imam and leader of the imams, the mufti of the nation, the supporter of the Sunnah, the suppressor of heresy, the originator of the age, Muhyi al-Din, the Qutub of Islam, Abu Muhammad Abd al-Qadir ibn Abi Salih ibn Abdullah al-Jili, informed us of my reciting to him in Sha`ban in the year five hundred and one in our school in Bab al-Azj, east of Baghdad. He said, ‘I (informed) the righteous Sheikh Abu al-Hussein al-Mubarak ibn Abd al-Jabbar al-Sayrafi.’ I recited it, so he acknowledged it in the year ninety-four and four. Maya in Darb al-Marwazi in the Qata’a, west of Baghdad, in Al-Karkh. He said, “I am Imam Abu Bakr Abdul Aziz bin Jaafar bin Ahmad bin Yazid bin Marouf Al-Karkhi, the jurist known as Ghulam Al-Khallal.” He said, “I am Imam Abu Bakr Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Harun Al-Khallal. This is the book of enjoining good and forbidding evil.”
