Notes - Al-Azdi included a lot of country news, events, and biographies (“Brockelmann” 1: 210). It is in three parts, the first and third of which were lost, and the second of which was preserved, in which he dealt with the history of the events of Mosul from the year 101 AH - 224 AH (= 719 - 838 AD), I mean the news of the Umayyad state, and the beginnings of the Abbasid state. He wrote this history according to the years. - About me investigating: Dr. Ali Habiba. It was published with a speech written by Muhammad Abu al-Fadl Ibrahim, then an introduction to the editor, in which he discussed: the transcription of the book, the translation of Abu Zakaria al-Azdi, and the sources that al-Azdi relied on. Published by (The Committee for the Revival of Islamic Heritage of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs. Dar Al-Tahrir for Printing and Publishing, Eastern Advertising Company Press - Cairo 1967, 526 pages). See what he wrote regarding this edition of the book: 1 - Hamad Al-Jasser: (“Al-Arab” 3 [1969], pp. 1119-1131). 2- The answer of the book’s researcher, Dr. Ali Habiba: (“Al-Arab” 4 [1969] pp. 357-358). -The author is Al-Hafiz Al-Qadi Al-Imam, a historian, hadith scholar, and served as the judge of Mosul. He was known as Ibn Zakrah. He has written books, including: “Tribes and Plans,” “Classes of Scholars from the People of Mosul,” and “Classes of Hadith Scholars from the People of Mosul.” Al-Dhahabi said: “I benefited a lot from its history.” The beginning of this second section is a continuation of the news of the year one hundred and forty-seven. What is mentioned in Al-Fatihah follows the title: “The fourteenth part of the book on the history of Mosul, the narration of Abu Zakaria Yazid bin Muhammad bin Iyas (In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful)” - the two sections: the second of this, and the first before it (= 182 Q. 361 AM, 21 Q) are photocopied from a handwritten copy in the Jester Beatty Library - in Dublin. See: (Korkis Awad: “Arabic Heritage Relics in the Juster Beatty Library - Dublin,” Section One, “The Resource” 1 [Baghdad 1971] No. 1-2, p. 155, No. 3030, said: “A unique copy”). Among them are illustrated in: - Egyptian Book House (No. 2475 date): (“Index of Arabic books in the house until December 1928” 5: 117). - The Timurid Treasury in the Egyptian House of Books (No. 2303), beginning on page 183, and at the beginning it was written that it was photographed in Cairo in the year 1346 AH. It is clear that it was based on the first version. - Institute of Arabic Manuscripts in Cairo: (“Index of Illustrated Manuscripts” 2/1: p. 74, No. 123). - In the graduate studies library at the College of Arts, University of Baghdad (the second part is incomplete), manuscript (No. 170), copied from a photocopy of the original. - It also contains (the entire second part) (No. 207), copied from a photocopy of the original. Sample Text In it, Harb bin Abdullah, the owner of Jaafar bin Abi Jaafar’s police force on Mosul, was killed. He was the owner of Al-Harbiyya, and Abu Jaafar carried it out with Gabriel bin Yahya, so he was defeated by the Khazars leaving them, so they killed him.
