The copyist wrote the text generally in black ink, and used red ink to place lines under Al-Nawawi’s annotated text, and left out a number of blanks because - apparently - he did not read the text well or he wanted to fill it - with red ink - and was not able to do so. (Praise be to God, who made the lineages of those who traced to Him connected, and raised the status of the one who stands at his door, and bestowed upon him his blessings and his begging...) And then, the knowledge of hadith is of high esteem, great in honor, honorable mention. No one cares for it except every scholar, no one deprives it except every deep, and his virtues do not fade over the course of time. I was among those who crossed to the abyss of his dictionary where he stood on its shore, and I was not satisfied with supplying its streams until I cut off its source and sources.
