Notes
The first part, with its four sections, is illustrated with fragments from a handwritten copy in the British Museum (and an illustrated copy in the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts - in Cairo - see (Index of Illustrated Manuscripts, 1/2: 107; No. 199). In the Escorial is a handwritten copy of “Al-Nasab Al-Kabir” (No. 1698): the last of which is: “... These are the sons of Nahd ibn Zaid... and it is the last book prepared and the Great Yemen.” It is a copy with a regular pen. Clearly, it was written by Omar bin Salem bin Muhammad bin Najda bin Mukhadah bin Adi bin Nimr bin Waqif, one of the mourners from Aws, Al-Ansari. He completed it on Tuesday, Rabi’ al-Akhir, in the year 610 AH, in 100 panels. See: (Index of Manuscripts, Dar al-Kutub al-Misriyah 1: 222, No. 9959 H). See: Index of Manuscripts Al-Musawwarah, 3/2: 319 - 320, No. 1285). In the British Museum there is a written copy (number: 22376) written by an orientalist, based on the Escorial manuscript, and a photocopied copy in the Egyptian House (No. 9959 H). See: (Catalog of Manuscripts, House of Egyptian Books - 1: 222) and in the National Library in Paris, a small fragment of it 13 pages, number 2047, in Kufic script. Each parchment is 22 cm long, 5/29 cm wide, 13-15 cm. From (Baron Dusselin: Catalog of Arabic Manuscripts - National Library - Paris. See for its manuscripts (letters exchanged between Al-Karmali and Timur, pp. 220 - 221, 221 - 223). Part One: 260 BC.
