Notes
[Part on the reasons for the hadith and the knowledge of men on the authority of Ahmad ibn Hanbal, who died in the year 241 (Brockelman 1: 182), from what was narrated from him by Abu Dawud al-Sijistani Sulayman ibn al-Ash’at, who died in the year 275 (Fragments 2: 167)]. The name of the book is not mentioned in it, but it is mentioned in it: Al-Hussein informed us, Sulaiman told us, I asked Ahmad, and while Abu Dawud told us, I heard Ahmad, so the narrator of the book on the authority of Ahmad is Abu Dawud Sulaiman, and he is Al-Sijistani, as we have proven. As for the one who narrated it from this, i.e. Al-Hussein, it may be Al-Hussein bin Idris Al-Ansari (301: Fragments 2: 235), and Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani (Tahdheeb Al-Tahdheeb 4:171) counted him among those who narrated from him. The book is about the men of hadith, their criticism, their authentication, and their weakness. Al-Hussein may add something of his own, saying, for example, paper 186: Al-Hussein Al-Musayyab bin Sharik said that he is abandoned. The beginning of the version:... He said, I heard Ahmad say, Shu’bah narrated the story of someone who sold a slave and had money. Chapters of the book: Q. 176: Chapter on History (which is based on the years) Paper 177: The trustworthy people of Makkah Paper 278: The people of Taif - The people of Egypt Paper 179: The people of Ramla and the people of Ashkelon - The people of Caesarea - Bayt Al-Maqdis - The people of Jordan - The people of Damascus Paper 179: The people of Mosul - The people of Raqqa - The people of Al-Masissa - Tarsus Antioch Q. 180: The people of Kufa, Paper 183: [A white piece of paper, and perhaps its place was fallen, so I replaced it without writing.] Paper 184: The people of Basra, Paper 186: The people of Al-Yamama - Khorasan, Paper 187: Chapter on the weak people of Medina. The twelfth part of the book “The Reasons for Hadith and Knowledge of Men” on the authority of Abu Abdullah Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Hanbal Al-Shaybani, may God be pleased with him [241: Brockelman 1: 182] from what he narrated on the authority of his son Abu Abdul Rahman Abdullah bin Ahmad [290: Fragments 203: 2]. Questions about the men of hadith, in which words were sometimes quoted from Ahmad ibn Hanbal.
