It is the duty of a wise person to look at people’s virtues and faults, and their position in relation to their benefits and harms, then seek benefits for himself in the same way as what has benefited them and negate the harm from them in the same way as what has harmed them, so he assigns matters to their functions and sets boundaries between their classes... Then he takes for himself a tool for disciplining them in the best knowledge that he knows.
