Notes
The writer, who lived in the era of Sultan Moulay Ismail, opens his letter by praising his reign, his feats, his exploits, and his jihadist deeds. He prays a lot for him for victory and glory, and notes what he ordered of restricting the residents of his high presence, the ancients and others, in a special office, whereby their accounts would be known and their lineages would be protected from distortion. The letter then lists the names of well-known Meknes families in this era, and they number in the hundreds. This restriction took place in Muharram in the year 1121 AH.
