John Selden's closed sea, or, De dominio maris: two books: first, it is shown that the sea, by the law of nature, or of nations, is not common to all men, but is capable of private dominion, or property, as well as the Earth: secondly, the Most Serene King of Great Britain is asserted to be the master of the surrounding seas, as an individual and perpetual appendage of the British empire.
