The first section deals with the name of تونس, the second with the name of افريقية, the third with the conquest of these countries by the Muslims, the fourth with the Fatemite caliphs, the fifth with the government of the Sanhadjian emirs, the sixth with the history of the Ḥafṣids, the seventh with the history of the Ottomans, and the eighth, entitled appendix (خـاتمــة), divided into four chapters, contains various notices on Tunis. The preface begins with these words: الحمد لله الذى لا يبدا احـد فى كتاب الا باسمه ليصل الى التمام. A French translation of this work was published in Paris in 1845 by MM. Pellissier and Rémusat.
