زيج الاستاذ جمال الدين Scanning from a substitute document. Astronomical tables of Ğamāl al-ḏīn Abū al-Qāsim ibn Maḥfūẓ al-Baġdādī. Beginning: الحمد لله على انعمه و الآيه. In the first part of this astronomy manual, the author deals with the eras and indicates the means of establishing the concordance of Muslim years with the years of the Copts, Greeks, Persians and Sabeans. He then gives a chronology of the caliphs, until the death of Al-Mostaʿṣim; then he deals with the signs of the zodiac, and gives the tables of the apogees (اوجـــات) of the sun, the moon, the five planets, the comets and the fixed stars. It also deals with the movements, direct and retrograde, of the five planets, the measurement of the diurnal arc and the height tables for the latitude of Baghdâd. We then find: the list of eclipses of the sun and the moon, with tables; the table of sign surveys for the latitude of Baghdâd and for other latitudes; the list of seven climates; a table of longitudes and latitudes of the different cities; tables of the latitudes of Saturn, Jupiter and Mars; a table for finding the ascendant of any year; the mansions of the moon; the conjunctions of the moon with different stars; calculating nativities; genethliac themes and tables; the risings of the signs in the right sphere; an aspect table; a sine table; calculating the declination of the sun and the latitude of the moon; a table to find the quantity of the diurnal arc traveled by the sun and to determine the equal hours. This last table is titled: زيج الطيلسان لابى القاسم على بن ماجور. Ms. copied in the year 684 A.H. (1285 A.D.). An apocryphal title, in Kufic characters, الزيج الوقبيه, was added afterwards, at the top of the volume. The f. 239v-254v contain the table called Zīğ al-ṭaylasān of Abū al-Qāsim ibn Amāğūr named here ʿAlī instead of ʿAbd Allāh. زيزالازززززززززززز Scanning from a substitute document.
