Sample Text	Scanning from a substitute document. This volume, the twenty-third of a copy, contains an abridgement of the annals of Islamism, from the year 541 to the year 744 of the hegira. The present ms., written during the author's lifetime, or shortly after his death, had belonged, in 761 AH (1360 AD), to a man named Moḥammad, son of ʿÎsa, son of Dâwoud, son of Schîrkouh, son of Moḥammad, son of the famous vizier of Egypt Schîr. A waqf act, inscribed on the frontispiece of the volume and dated the year 797 AH (1395 A.D.), tells us that a man named Maḥmoûd, grand master of the palace (استادار) of the Mamluk sultan Al-Malik al-Ẓâhir Barcouc, had given the first twenty-three volumes of this work, to the exception of the twenty-first, at the college located in the Al-Mawâzîn district (الموازين), in Cairo. Title in silver letters, with gold and colored framing. Scanning from a substitute document.
