Documentary testimony of the management of single-person governing bodies represented by the figure of the director and vice-directors. It includes: 1. Correspondence on general functions-scientific policy -- 2. Planning and organization reports -- 3. Official and protocol acts -- 5. Regulatory activity. The first director of the School of Arab Studies was Emilio García Gómez, who during a short but dynamic period of 3 years assumed its technical direction. In the first stage, the management was linked to the University of Granada, through a board of trustees made up of five members: the rector of the University of Granada, the dean and two professors – one of them in Arabic – of the Faculty of Letters, and the architect-conservator of the Alhambra. Since 1940, when it joined the CSIC until today, the direction and governance of the Institute has fallen to successive directors belonging to this organization. According to the EEA Regulations of 1932, it was up to the Director to organize the technical work of the sections, after hearing the proposals of those in charge of them, and to propose the appointment of the staff of scholarship holders and students, following a report from the section manager.
