It is a storage cabinet for the Holy Qur’an in Al-Rawdah in the Prophet’s Mosque, made of oak wood inlaid with ivory and mother-of-pearl and covered with foil of silver alloy with copper, forming Islamic geometric decorations in the form of star plates and arabesque decorations. The cabinet consists of three doors, two of which are identical on either side in the form of a mihrab with an arch in the shape of a horseshoe. They are of the same size (80 cm width x 1.40 m length). The middle door is the same size as (60 cm width x 1.40 m length) It is topped with a triple compound arch containing muqarnas in the middle of which is the text (God Almighty), and below it is a founding text for the wheel, in which is written (A gift to the honorable Prophet’s chamber from Princess Amina Hanim Karima Hantakan Ilhami Pasha and the wife of the late Tawfiq Pasha, Khedive of Egypt, and the mother of His Highness the Khedive of Egypt, Abbas Pasha II, in the year 1328 AH). The arch is also above the arch. The three are texts written in thuluth script (Indeed, We have given you a clear conquest). As for the two right wings, a line from Nahj Burda al-Busiri’s poem was written on top of them (Like a cloud, how can I walk... His piety is free and the beast of the desert is hot) and above the left door is (I swore by the split moon that he has... from his heart a percentage that justifies the oath). | Islamic geometric decorations in the form of star plates and arabesque decorations
