“A box made of ebony wood, inlaid with ivory, and decorated on the outer edges and corners with a decorative strip made of copper foil in the form of merlons. The inside of the box is divided into ten units, each unit dedicated to storing a quarter of the Qur’an and lined with a layer of velor silk in a dark green color. As for the outside of the box, it is inlaid and covered with copper on all five sides.” | Height 23.3 cm, width 29.2 cm, depth 23.5 cm | Saudi Arabia - Medina - King Abdulaziz Complex for Endowment Libraries | "Texts recorded on the collection: The front façade: It is decorated with inlay with a Qur’anic verse (Indeed, it is the Noble Qur’an in a hidden book) inside a rectangular shape. The back façade: (Only the purified shall touch it, a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds) and it is executed with inlay using ivory. The right side: It is decorated with the name of the donor (Hassan Bey al-Sanari) in the form of a taghra and surrounded by arabesque floral decorative units and a carnation flower on the side. The left one: It is decorated in the form of a rectangle with the inscription “Safar al-Khair in the year 1333”. As for the cover, it is decorated with takifit with copper foil cut out with arabesque decorations, with a silver foil decorated with relief engraving in which it is written: “This is the endowment of the Prophet’s Mosque.”
