| Notes | In front is the flag of the 51st (regiment), the second flag on which it is already decorated with the Legion of Honor is the flag of the 87th (regiment). British general Sir. H.C.O. Plumer, after recapturing Wytschaete last June, made a delicate decision: he brought this bell, which he found in the Belgian place and removed from the ruins of his church, to King Albert's headquarters for an official installation. English general Sir. H.C.O. Plumer, after having retaken Wytschaete last June, had the courteous idea to have this bell, found on Belgian soil and lifted out of the ruins of its church, transported to the general headquarters of King Albert for a formal reinstallation. |
