With the help of stencils, the calligrapher has on the middle field various decorative patterns and 34 word fields left out as blank spaces in the text. Read in context, these blind word fields pay homage to the prophet, his daughter Fatima and the twelve Shiite Imams. These will be in order listed, starting with the fourth Caliph Ali, through his sons Hassan and Hussein up to the "expected" 12th Imam, the Mahdi, who according to Shiite teaching did not die, but has only "disappeared" and will one day return as end-time ruler and redeemer will.
