leather — Four parts, each with a leather scroll, Megillat Ester, described on one side, Sephardic
font (?); in columns, 20 lines each, ruled by scoring, hanging
letters, unvocalized; no line fillers; Parashot separated by spatium;
all four fragments fit together seamlessly in the order: Frg. 1 with inserted
Ms. 2, then Frg. 3, then Frg. 4; gives a total of esters 1.17-10.3. Fragment 1: 14 x 83 cm; lower edge bordered and punched, partly still with leather strap;
3 parts sewn; 11 columns, from column 2 from right to left in a descending line
perforated; several wormholes; individual tears; incorrect (?) between column 5
and 6 roughly sewn together with leather strap, Frg belongs here. 2!, between columns
7 and 8 finely sewn together with thread, the first lines of column 1 scraped off,
Column 10 below and 11 completely scraped: Esther 1:17-3:6 and 4:14-7:7ff. Fragment 2: 13.9 x 23.2 cm; right edge bordered and punched, upper edge punched throughout,
3 columns: Esther 3:7-4:13. Fragment 3: 13.5 x 28.1 cm; upper edge bordered and punched; Right edge punched throughout
and partly reboarded; bottom edge punched throughout; 4 columns, of which
Column 4 rubricated: Esther 8.5-9.9; verso by a later hand with Latin letters:
No. 40. Fragment 4: 13.7 x 32.7 cm; upper edge bordered and punched; few holes, especially in
Column 1 and there at the bottom; 3 columns: Esther 9:10-10:3, left margin up to
5.5cm wide.
