linen envelope; — Text written in ġubārī script, which is a type of nasḫī. — A red and a black frame border the 2.1 cm wide text area
a. The head trim is 25 cm long and has a similar shape to BC-5.498:
The edges of the strip, which is divided into three longitudinal stripes, are decorated with simple flower tendrils
black lines and green dots. Three circles are through a brown stripe
connected to each other. A hexagon forms the beginning of the decorative strip. In the hexagon
and the circles have the names Sulaymān, Abū Luṭfī, ... [illegible], aṣ-Ṣādiq
Ǧaʿfar. The latter is the last recognized by the Twelver Shia and the Ismailis
Imam (d. 80/700). This is followed by two quatrefoil medallions with the Fātiḥa and the
Beginning of the second surah. — black, brown — Arabic script → Naskh — paper — Koran scroll; it does not contain the entire Quran because it has a function like
Amulets. From the 3rd surah onwards there are the surah texts - except for the last, shorter surahs
– no longer complete. The Quran text is followed by instructions for reading the Quran,
the associated ritual bows (saǧda and ruqʿa) and prayers.
