bamboo — Plaintive lovesongs in 7-syllabic verse. (Description of this ms. is extracted from
the treatise of Prof. M.A. Jaspan). This text is a reminder of the rivalry between the four factions in the Lampung area
at the time of the ms. Through this medium the writer emphasises his warning that
ruin – here described as Judgment Day – will be the result if the four factions keep
competing with each other for supremacy. The four must support each other in leading
the country. Cf. VOHD XXIX, 24.
