She spent “7 years and 6 months in prison, including 3 years in solitary confinement”, then disappeared during a campaign of mass executions of political prisoners in December 1988. It is his memory that his daughter Chowra Makaremi tries to revive here, by summoning other voices, other stories - those of his loved ones first, of his family members, and, inseparable, the History of contemporary Iran, from the revolution of 1979 until today. The word hitch, which in Persian means nothing, designates the silence, the opacity and the ignorance which surround the circumstances of the. death of Fatemeh - among many other victims of the Islamic revolution - a silence established as law by a regime which, even today, works methodically to obscure, erase, destroy any trace of opposition However, it is precisely against and from this nothing that Chowra Makaremi carried out her investigation - by drawing on very diverse, disparate, and sometimes discordant sources. grandfather, Aziz Zarei, recorded her memories of the incarceration and execution of her two daughters, Fatemeh and Fataneh. Added to this Aziz Notebook, which she translated and published, are the words of her grandmother, her father and her aunts, press clippings, images stolen or torn from censorship, lists of names, photos and private archives, a few personal, innocuous and precious objects. and also fragments of dreams...
