The silk carpet, once pinkish-purple, is now faded to fawn and is scattered with detached flowering plants in bright pale blue and pink, with a little green, white and cream, around a central medallion of flowers. Warp: white silk; Z3S; 42 threads per inch (170 per dm); depressed. Weft: thin blue silk, Z2S; and thick white cotton Z4S; 1 shoot of each after each row of knots with white inserted first; 19 knots per inch (78 per dm). Pile: silk; 7 colours (faded and difficult to distinguish): red, green, blue, purple faded to brown, pink, brown, cream; asymmetrical knot open to the left and tied around 2 threads; 399 knots per sq. inch (6630 per sq. dm). Side finish: one cord oversewn with purple silk. End finish: cut with an added fringe of light brown silk Design: Field: faded purple ground scattered with detached floral sprays and with a central floral medallion. Main border: blue ground with elaborate floral meander; now in shades of brown. Inner and outer borders: yellow ground with floral meander.
