Fiziksel açıklama
A tapestry woven panel of maroon wool and undyed linen, from possibly a linen tunic or a larger hanging. One edge is selvedge while the others have been cut. The piece has ripped in one place and is very dirty. The decoration, dark on light, consists of a central panel depicting a female figure riding a mer-creature, surrounded by a square with three small squares/dots in each corner. This is surrounded by a large pattern border of winged cherubs in the corners (turning away but with their heads facing towards the centre), dolphins at either side, and winged mer-creatures at top and botom. The hands of the cheubs at the bottom corners extend into the outermost square border of the panel. Details are picked out in flying thread brocading in undyed linen thread. Tapestry weave: Linen warp (S-spun, 2/3) Wool weft (Z-spun) Linen weft (S-spun)
