| Notes | brass, cast with engraved champleve decoration, the hatched ground filled with black composition, Iran, 1500-1550 AD. The bowl is incribed with Quranic Suras, calling God's blessings on the Fourteen Protected Ones (upper inscription on outside walls) and the Shia call to Ali. On the central print the double invocation Ya Muhammad! Ya Ali! repeated four times has been made into a whirling cross pattern.; Islamic metalwork |
