Tile, fritware painted in lustre over the glaze, from a tomb in Varamin (near Tehran), made in Iran (probably Kashan), probably decorated by the potter Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Tahir. Dated 1262 (660-1 AH).

Right-hand vertical half of a tile once in the shape of an eight-pointed star, fritware. The decoration of palmettes and split palmettes is in reserve against a golden-brown lustre, and further details of dots and curls are scratched through the lustre. The border has an inscription painted in lustre on a white ground.
