Carpet fragment, probably a side border, of knotted woollen pile. A continuous angular stem bearing conventional flowers in red, yellow, green and black on a blue ground. Warp: white wool; Z2S; 72 threads per dm (18 per in.) Weft: red wool; Z-spun, unpiled; two shoots after each row of knots; 38 knots per dm (9 per in.); 'lazy lines' Pile: wool; six colours: red, yellow, light yellow, green, blue, black; symmetrical knot; 1,368 knots per sq. dm (81 per sq. in.) Side and End Finishes: missing.
