Plain weave cotton, probably hand woven, embroidered with silk in straight stitches with pulled thread work; whitework. The decoration forms a patterned band around the four sides leaving the central panel undecorated. The pattern band is composed of a narrow needlewoven strip either side of a wider band of pulled thread work of alternating straight stitch lozenges and a pulled thread roundel within a pulled thread lozenge.
