Syrian potters working in Damascus produced the best provincial versions of Iznik pottery. Typically the palette of the colours and designs imitate Iznik wares made around 1550 almost fifty earys earlier.

Dish, fritware, with wavy serrated rim, painted in manganese-purple, sage-green and a watery cobalt blue, under a clear glaze. Painted with a spray of hyacinths within a saz leaf, flanked by sprays of carnations. The rim is painted with spirals on a blue ground with irregular reserves, and the underside with a continuous wavy stem with foliage.
