Plain-woven silk and metal thread
Fiziksel açıklama
Shawl of plain-woven silk and metal thread. Warp: white silk, Z-twist. Metal thread: silver-gilt strip open S-wound on yellow silk core. White ground patterned with a series of bands, each separated by 2 cm of undecorated ground divided by two lines of metal thread. The patterned bands are edged with double lines of metal thread and consist of simple geometric forms picked out in metal thread in zigzags, lozenges and X-motifs, repeated four times. These zones are at both ends followed by an unpatterned white ground which has irregular banding created by different thicknesses of weft. Midway is a narrow band of simple interlocked lozenges in metal thread. There is a simple tasselled fringe 12 cm long at both ends.
