Cotton Yarn Silk Thread Weaving Embroidering
Fiziksel açıklama
Plain weave cotton embroidered with silk in straight stitches. Difficult to line-up this fragment, but the proper position probably has the long straight side down the right and the point mid-way down the left. The main pattern is a series of diagonal lines from lower right to upper left. These are chevron lines in blue and green. There are two sizes of stripes: [1] narrow stripes: a five-petalled flower outlined in black infilled with shades of grey with pink and yellow details; another five-petalled flower outlined in black in the form of an iris with no coloured details. [2] much wider stripes in two designs: the larger of the two has several large faded pink blossoms with few details; the smaller stripe contains some black-outlined star-shaped flowers. Threads: white, dark green, green, blue [one shade of blue is actually blue and light blue plied together], black, light orange, yellow, pink silk; 2S
