Notes
Woven, checked silk. Egyptian, ca. AD1200-1500. The background is dark blue with checked lines of yellow (4mm wide). In one direction the yellow lines are bordered with thin red lines (1.5mm wide). The lines in the other direction are still of yellow but are of a smaller weave and are border by the same coloured thread of longer stitiches (resembling running stitich). The piece has some staining and some small holes.
